Temperatures to rise back above freezing

THURSDAY: A drastic warming trend begins this morning as temperatures rise back above freezing by lunchtime. High temperatures will reach near 40 under sunny skies. Southwest winds at 8-15 mph will be a bit gusty, up to 22 mph at times, which will make it feel like the low 30s in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Winds will remain a bit breezy out of the southwest up to 11 mph, which will help overnight lows remain in the mid 20s under clear skies. With a steady breeze, wind chill factor will drop into the mid teens by day break.

EXTENDED: The warming continues into the weekend with high temperatures reaching near 50 Friday, low-mid 50s Saturday and upper 50s to near 60 Sunday. We’ll have clouds moving through Saturday with a slight chance of light drizzle in our northwest counties but most areas will stay dry on Saturday. Winds will be gusty and from the southeast Sunday as an area of low pressure moves to our north, dragging a cold front through the area by early Monday morning. This will increase rain chances through the day Sunday. Accumulations looks up to a half inch, which is much needed considering the drought conditions that are spread across the state. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. As colder air moves in early Monday, there is a chance of light snow showers with little to no accumulation. Temperatures will stay in the 30s Monday, rebounding into the lower 40s by next Tuesday. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for the latest updates to your forecast.
