Driver involved in high-speed chase has been charged

The driver involved in a high-speed chase on I-70 on Jan. 6 has been charged.

ABC17 previously reported that troopers tried to pull over Neal Chase for speeding going eastbound on I-70 near the Stadium Boulevard exit, but he failed to yield.

According to the probable cause statement, when Chase failed to yield he turned northbound on Stadium, made a u-turn and returned to eastbound interstate I-70.

During the pursuit, Chase exceeded 100 miles per hour and struck another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle complained of neck pain.

Troopers said after the crash, Chase continued driving even though his car had sustained substantial damage.

The vehicle came to a stop east of the Lake of the Woods exit and Chase attempted to flee on foot.

Officers tackled Chase and he did not resist any further.

Chase was charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
