Man charged with involuntary manslaughter for “recklessly causing death” of Phelps County woman
A man has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter after a Rolla woman was killed.
Deputies said they investigated a shooting incident on Dec. 23 in the 1700 block of County Road 3520 and found Tanya Johnson, 34, with a gunshot wound.
Johnson was later pronounced dead and her cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to her back.
Officers said during the early stages of the investigation, it was determined that Dallas Hogue, 26, was present during the shooting.
Hogue was accused of being in possession of a firearm when he is a convicted felon.
On Jan. 10, the Grand Jurors of Phelps County indicted Hogue and charged him with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Deputies said Hogue recklessly caused the death of Johnson by shooting her.
Officers said the investigation is still on-going and ask anyone with information about the incident to call Phelps County Detective Sergeant George Arnold at (573) 426-3860, Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Scott Mertens at (573)368-2345, or the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department Confidential Tip Line at (573) 426-2936.
