Man accused of endangering son’s welfare now has arraignment set

A 30-year-old father will be arraigned March 1 on a charge that he endangered the life of his 3-year-old son by leaving him unattended in a hot car.

Jacob Kelly is charged in Montgomery with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

In a news release, officers said that on July 13 Kelly ran from a deputy when he was detained due to active warrants.

Kelly had left his 3-year-old son in the car where the deputy first detained him, officers say. The son was unattended and asleep, with the windows up and the car off while it was 89 degrees.
