Court documents reveal more details about police chase with accused shooter

Court documents reveal new details about a police chase with accused shooter, Lorenzo Shephard.

ABC17 previously reported that Columbia police arrested Lorenzo Shephard, 22, in reference to an October shooting that happened near the Ruckus Bar and Grill.

Police previously reported that on Thursday officers saw a car that was believed to be connected to Shephard pull into a parking lot in the 3000 block of S. Providence Road. Police said Shephard ran from the area and a foot pursuit began.

According to court documents, Shephard fled over the southbound lanes of Providence Road, over a concrete wall and over the northbound lanes of Providence.

Police said when they were chasing Shephard, officers had to wait for cars to stop otherwise they would have been hit.

Shephard was eventually caught in the 500 block of Green Meadows Road. Police said Shephard put officers in danger by fleeing on foot over a busy state highway while it was raining and icing out.

Shephard was charged with resisting arrest and unlawful use of a weapon for the October shooting.
