Columbia police arrest man accused of hitting member of security team with car

UPDATE 5:00 pm: Knowles has been charged with a DWI causing a physical injury.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Joshua Knowles early Saturday morning after officers were dispatched to Club Vogue in the 900 block of Business Loop 70 East for a report of a vehicle collision and disturbance.

Police said when they arrived on scene, Knowles was being detained by security.

The investigation revealed that Knowles struck a parked car and attempted to leave the scene. When security tried to stop Knowles, he put his car in reverse and struck a security member causing injury.

Officers said they smelled a strong odor of intoxicants on Knowles’s breath.

Knowles faces possible charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner.
