UPDATE: One person arrested after victim was shot in Jefferson City, police say

UPDATE 1/14: Jefferson City police said they are still investigating a shooting incident that happened in the 600 block of Michigan Street Saturday afternoon, but they said they have arrested one person in connection to the shooting.

Police said they responded to Michigan Street around 5 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When officers got to the scene, they said they found a 34-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Columbia with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Jefferson City Police detectives were then called to the scene, and with help from officers and the Community Action Team, they found Marco Conley, 20, of Jefferson City to be a suspect in the shooting, police said.

Police said Conley was found and detained without any issues. They said he was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and was taken to the Cole County Jail with charges pending.

An officer on scene told ABC 17 News the victim’s injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Police have set up crime scene tape in the area. Officers said no arrests have been made.
