Assistant Prosecuting Attorney announces candidacy for Associate Circuit Judge

First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tracy Gonzalez announced on Friday her intentions to run for Associate Circuit Judge, Division IX.

Gonzalez is the first attorney to announce her candidacy for the post.

“I have a long history of fighting for the most vulnerable members of our community,” Gonzalez said. “As a judge, my first priority would be to provide all persons, from all backgrounds, a prompt, fair and just result. I believe there are no ‘cookie cutter cases’ and that each person must be treated with respect and as a unique individual, and their various legal issues examined fully and fairly.”

Gonzalez currently handles all of the crimes against children for Boone County, including sexual and physical assault cases. She also prosecutes homicides, robberies and assaults.

Gonzalez said she wants to use her experience with alternative sentencing and specialty courts to explore ways to better serve families and juveniles involved in the court system.

Judge Michael Bradley recently announced that he is retiring. He served in Division IX since 2011.

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2018.
