Warmer temperatures cause lakes to close for ice sports
Parks and Recreation officials announced on Wednesday that crews have closed Stephens Lake Park and Cosmo-Bethel Park for ice sports.
ABC17 previously reported the lakes were open for ice skating and ice fishing.
The closures come after temperatures warmed up and conditions began to thaw. Officials said they will continue to monitor conditions as temperatures begin to drop again.
Staff is scheduled to evaluate the conditions on Friday and Tuesday to determine if the ice is thick enough to allow ice sports on the lakes again.
