Plummeting temperatures brings the chance for rain, freezing rain, and snow
The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team is tracking drastically changing conditions through the next 24 to 36 hours as a strong cold front moves through the area. Thursday morning temperatures will remain in the 50s with an increasing rain chance. Shifting winds will bring dropping temperatures by the late morning hours as the rain chance continues to push to the southeast. The wind shift will bring a sudden cool down as temperatures drop 20-30 degrees within a few hours.
Any rain will change to freezing rain, sleet, and eventually snow as the colder air mass catches up with the initial system. With a brief wintry mix we could see icy conditions on roadways by Thursday evening. Just in time for the commute home. It’s important to stay up to date with these potentially hazardous conditions as the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team continues to track this system on air and online.
