Large police presence in central Columbia early Wednesday morning

UPDATE: According to Columbia police the only dispatch call on their records show a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Worley Street. The driver left with a warning.

Police tell ABC 17 News they did get called out to a possible shots fired on Texas Avenue but when officers arrived it was a “keep the peace” call.

ORIGINAL: A large police presence surrounded several streets in central Columbia Wednesday morning.

ABC 17 News saw police near Worley and Independence along with Banks and Donnelly avenue, near Worley Street Park from midnight to 1 a.m.

A K-9 unit was also with Columbia police as they canvased the area.

It seemed like the department was looking for something in the area, as officers had flashlights shining the ground.
