UPDATE: Icy road conditions cause multiple-vehicle crash near Rock Bridge State Park, officials say
UPDATE 11 a.m: First responders said icy road conditions caused a car to slide off Highway 163 Monday morning.
Boone County firefighters said the car slid off in the 6700 block of Highway 163, near the Devil’s Icebox Trail, shortly before 7:45 a.m. They said four other cars crashed in the same area while trying to avoid the first car.
Boone County deputies said crews called a snow truck from the Missouri Department of Transportation for salt treatment because the road was slick while they were trying to respond to the crashes.
Deputies blocked access of Highway 163 for other drivers while crews were working to clear the scene.
ABC 17 News crews said the road was cleared around 9:15 a.m.
ORIGINAL: Boone County Fire Protection District and the University Hospital Ambulance Service were called to respond to a motor vehicle collision in the 6700 block of Highway 163.

The multiple-vehicle crash was reported just before 7:45 a.m. Monday in the Rock Bridge State Park area.
Crews at the scene said ice was a contributing factor in the crashes.
Sheriff’s deputies said the crashes resulted in no injuries.
