Police investigate inappropriate “swatting or spanking” by former daycare staff member

Fulton Public School officials released a letter sent out to Options Daycare Families on Jan. 2 about an alleged inappropriate restraint by a staff member.

The letter states that the incident was reported to the Division of Family Services Hotline and Fulton police.

DFS representatives indicated no further action would be taken but the police may contact families, officials said.

Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said that the parents of the child involved in the incident has been contacted. Cowherd also said the incident is extremely disturbing and officials will continue to take immediate action to ensure the safety of all daycare children.

In another letter sent out on Jan. 4, Cowherd said the restraint incident was confirmed and more allegations of swatting and spanking surfaced.

Cowherd said DFS and police are investigating the new allegations and the employee being investigated is no longer at the daycare center.
