Moberly police search for suspect that allegedly fled during traffic stop
UPDATE, 11: 26 p.m.: Moberly police have confirmed the suspect is 30-year-old Cody Kitchen.
The search began when an officer pulled over a vehicle at 8:44 p.m. in the area of Johnson Street and Adams Street. When the vehicle came to a stop, Kitchen immediately fled on foot.
Officers knew an active Randolph County felony parole warrant was out for Kitchen.
During the chase, police said Kitchen unlawfully entered a residence in the 600 block of Coates Street. Officers said the home owner was not familiar with Kitchen.
When officers entered the home, Kitchen ran out the back door.
UPDATE, 10:43 p.m.: Moberly police told ABC 17 News the suspect is a man wanted on a felony warrant.
They called off the search that took them to the 600 block of Coates Street for the night due to the cold weather. Officers said the suspect has not been located, but they believe there is no reason to be alarmed.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Moberly Police Department said its officers were searching for a suspect Thursday night.
According to police, the suspect fled during a traffic stop near the post office on Johnson Street just after 9 p.m.
They are requesting that people stay away from the area of Coates Street and downtown.
Columbia Police have been called in with a K-9 unit to help in the search.
