Sedalia police arrest woman accused of having drugs in her car

Sedalia police arrested Elizabeth Jones on Tuesday after officers initiated a traffic stop in the 2200 block of West Main Street.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies made the traffic stop because Jones had a brake light out.

Police said when the approached the car, they smelled marijuana and began to search the vehicle.

Officers said they found a small amount of marijuana and a white powder residue that tested positively for amphetamine.

Police said that a 6-year-old child was also in the car at the time of the traffic stop.

Jones admitted to police that all of the illegal items in her car belonged to her.

According to the probable cause statement, Jones had no prior criminal history.

Jones was charged with possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs and possession of marijuana.
