Frostnip is the precursor to frostbite
Almost everyone has heard of frostbite, but frostnip is actually the precursor to it.
Frostnip is actually a mild form of frostbite, but doesn’t permanently damage the skin.
Someone can get frostnip after being outside for only 10 minutes.
Doctors said it affects the vulnerable areas of your body including the eyelids, tips of the ears, cheeks and nose.
It starts out with redness, but the skin eventually turns cold and numb. If you start to notice any of these symptoms you need to go inside and warm up.
Frostbite, on the other hand, can happen in as little as 5 to 30 minutes, depending on the temperature outside.
