Jefferson City man charged with having illegal firearms after officers find more than 50 guns
Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Tom Larson, announced on Thursday that Jeremy Roark, 32, was charged in federal court with illegally possessing firearms after law enforcement officers confiscated 50 weapons from him, including several stolen guns.
The criminal complaint alleged that Roark was in possession of a revolver on Dec. 15.
Roark was accused of attempting to sell six firearms to River City Pawn and Gun in Jefferson City on Dec. 15.
The owner told officers that Roark brought six guns to the business and allegedly discussed having as many as 70 additional firearms for sale that he could bring to the store.
The owner said he did not pay Roark for the guns and had no contact with Roark after their first encounter.
Roark admitted to officers that he had taken the guns to the pawn shop and also admitted to being a weekly user of methamphetamine for approximately two years.
According to court documents, officers recovered approximately 50 guns from Roark during the course of the investigation. Police also determined that four of those firearms were stolen.
Roark has prior felony convictions for distributing or manufacturing a controlled substance and a prior felony conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol.
