Linn High School student arrested for bringing unloaded gun to school, possession of marijuana

UPDATE 5:04 P.M.: ABC 17 talked to Principal Bower who said he was not notified of the gun by a student, but rather a faculty member. The court documents say that Bower was notified by a student.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Linn High School student was charged with unlawful use of weapon and delivery of 35 grams or less of marijuana after bringing an unloaded gun onto the school’s premises.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office was called to Linn High School on Tuesday for a student having a gun in his car.

Principal Bower was notified of the gun by another student. Police went to Zachary Thoenen’s vehicle with Thoenen, who allowed them to search the vehicle.

Police found an unloaded shotgun, alcohol, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle.

Thoenen was taken to the Osage County Jail for a 24-hour hold.
