Two Columbia homes in violation of city code

Columbia’s Building Construction Codes Commission has ruled two homes are in violation of city code.

Both homes are located in the 600 block of McBaine Avenue.

One of them was found to have cracks in the foundation, which the owner said were there when he bought it.

That owner filed a motion to appeal, but it was denied.

The owner of the second home argues that a rim joist was repaired, but a city official says not all rim joists were repaired. City officials plan to meet again at a later time to further discuss the home.
