Columbia police arrest man accused of having more than 100 grams of marijuana, stolen guns

Columbia police arrested Sean Griffin on Thursday after officers responded to Griffin’s hotel room at the 3100 block of Wingate Court for a theft investigation.

According to the probable cause statement, officers knocked on the hotel room’s door and heard movement inside but no one answered the door.

Officers said the door was later opened by management and a strong odor of marijuana was detected.

Police said they found 126 grams of marijuana, five grams of methamphetamine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, methamphetamine, pipes, one shotgun, two rifles, and three pistols.

Officers said they also searched Griffin’s truck and found nine grams of methamphetamine and five grams of marijuana.

Police said two guns were confirmed stolen. Three firearms were found with defaced serial numbers, officers said.

According to the probable cause statement, Griffin is a convicted felon and was in possession of 6 firearms.

Griffin was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and stealing.
