Children of woman killed in murder-suicide sue estate of her alleged killer

The children of a Moberly woman that was killed in July are suing the estate of her alleged killer.

The children of Joan Marie Householder are suing the estate of Norman Householder accusing him of a wrongful death.

ABC17 previously reported that officers found Joan Marie Householder dead from an apparent gunshot wound lying in the street. Officers also found Norman Householder dead inside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators ruled the shootings a murder-suicide.

According to the lawsuit, the negligent, careless, reckless or intentional acts of Norman were the direct and proximate cause of the death of Joan Marie Householder therefore making her children suffer.

The children said they have suffered and will continue to suffer the future loss of services, support, companionship, comfort, instruction, guidance and counsel of their mother.

According to the children, their mother suffered conscious pain and suffering prior to her death.

The children are asking judges to award them an amount which the court deems fair from Norman Householder’s estate.
