Fire Department reminds drivers to yield to emergency vehicles
The Columbia Fire Department gave its Twitter followers an inside look at how emergency vehicles need to maneuver through rush-hour traffic.
A Friday tweet shows a fire truck moving through oncoming traffic during rush hour on the I-70 connector in Columbia.
The tweet reminds drivers to, “Remember to pull as far to the right as possible and stop until the emergency vehicle passes.” If you can’t get to the right then come to a complete stop to allow the vehicles to get around.
On Dec. 4, a volunteer firefighter and a Boone County deputy were involved in a rollover crash on Route B. Officials say a civilian driver swerved towards the deputy while they were responding to an emergency.
