Police arrest man accused of stealing a car, crashing it and leaving the scene of the accident

UPDATE 12:30 pm: Jordan has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Keon Jordan early Friday morning on suspicion of stealing a car.

Police said in September that they were dispatched to the 2800 block of Rollins Road in reference to a motor vehicle theft. Officers said the victim had her silver Lexus stolen.

Later that day, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Meadow Lane in reference to a car crash. A witness told police they saw a silver Lexus speed down the road, fail to negotiate a curve and crash.

The witness said four black men exited the car and left in another vehicle that arrived on scene.

Police said they collected fingerprints from the driver’s window and back passenger’s side window and sent them out for testing.

Jordan faces possible charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and tampering with a motor vehicle.
