More charges filed for man accussed in bank robbery, car chase

More charges have been filed for the man accused of attempting to rob a bank and leading multiple authorities on a car chase on Nov. 30.

Monteer was previously arrested on suspicion of being involved in a car chase and attempting to rob a bank in Versailles. During the chase, Monteer fired four rounds from a gun at a Stover police officer.

Monteer is now charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner in connection with the incident.

According to the probable cause statement, troopers talked to witnesses of the car chase. One witness said they saw Monteer’s vehicle travel through the ditch and strike a parked PT Cruiser. The witness said they did not witness the second crash, which happened in the woods behind Stover Country Market.

Troopers said the the damage done to the parked PT Cruiser totaled $3,854.82.

Monteer was previously charged with 16 other counts of unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and armed criminal action related to the incident.
