Room at the Inn provides shelter to homeless during cold weather

With temperatures dropping shelters are now opened and helping homeless individuals stay warm with a good night’s rest.

Room at the Inn, hosted by Columbia Area Faith Communities, a ministry of Columbia Alliance to Combat Homelessness, has begun.

Sites will be open through March for homeless adults.

They will be able to go there to sleep from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on certain dates and locations.

Host locations and dates are as follow:

Dec. 3, 2017 through Dec. 17, 2017

Unitarian Universalist Church

2615 Shepard Blvd.

Dec. 18, 2017 through Jan. 1, 2018

Fairview United Methodist Church

3200 Chapel Hill Road.

Jan. 2, 2018 through Jan. 27, 2018

Broadway Christian Church

2601 W Broadway

Jan. 28, 2018 through Feb. 10, 2018

Missouri United Methodist Church

204 S 9th St.

Feb. 11, 2018 through Feb. 17, 2018

First Presbyterian Church

16 Hitt St.

Feb. 18, 2018 through March 3, 2018

First Baptist Church

1112 E Broadway

March 4, 2018 through March 10, 2018

Calvary Episcopal Church

123 S 9th St

Jim Jantz, the coordinator for the Room at the Inn said they are in need of large gloves for homeless individuals to stay warm. The best place where people can deliver the large gloves is at any of these locations between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
