Man accused of killing Clinton police officer faces new charges
The man accused of killing Clinton police officer Gary Michael is now charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to the amended complaint, Ian McCarthy is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm because he knowing possessed a Ruger model AR-556 rifle after being convicted of a felony in 2002.
According to the complaint, McCarthy is a persistent offender after being charged with felony assault and felony robbery in Hillsborough, New Hampshire.
In August, Officer Michael was killed during a traffic stop near the Henry County Sheriff’s Department. McCarthy was accused of fleeing the scene which initiated a manhunt.
McCarthy is also charged with murder and armed criminal action.
