Unseasonably warm temperatures expected through Monday
TODAY: It’s cool start to the morning as lows are hovering in the lower 40s across Mid-Missouri. Much like we’ve seen the past several days, the cool mornings will give way to a pleasant and unseasonably warm afternoon. We’ll see highs top out in the mid-60s as we head through the day, accompanied with winds out of the south up to 13 mph. Morning sunshine will give way to partly cloudy skies through the day, which will limit temperatures from climbing into the upper 60s.
TONIGHT: It’s shaping up to be a mild and breezy night across Mid-Missouri. Partly cloudy skies and gusty winds up to 25 mph out of the south will keep temperatures in the mid-50s. Some drizzle is likely after 2 AM, but will be few and far between across Mid-Missouri.
EXTENDED: It will be a very warm day across Mid-Missouri as we head into Monday. Through the day, winds out of the south up to 25 mph and gusting as high as 35 will warm us into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. This comes ahead of a strong cold front that will track into Mid-Missouri and bring the return of showers and storms. A marginal risk of severe weather is possible by the afternoon, with the main threat being damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. A few showers are possible by mid-afternoon, but most of the rain moves in during the evening and overnight, ending by 3 AM. Rainfall accumulation looks less than .50″ for most of mid-Missouri. Cooler air moves in by Monday night, leaving us with a seasonal day Tuesday with high temperatures in the mid-40s. Reinforcing shots of colder air moves in through the week with arctic air arriving by the end of this week. There is a chance we could see some flurries to light snow as we head into the Thursday and Friday. Watch ABC17 news for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
