Man charged with statutory rape, woman arrested after 15-year-old girl gets pregnant

A Morgan County man has been charged with statutory rape and child molestation after Versailles police were alerted of a possible statutory rape.

According to the probable cause statement, a woman claimed that Steven Clark was having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old.

Police said when they tried to contact Clark, Clark stated that he would not speak with law enforcement and that he had already contacted his lawyer.

Officers said they obtained search warrants to gain access to the phones of the victim, Jessica Hay, and Clark.

Police said they arrested Hay for sexual abuse after officers were able to extract an audio recording from the victim’s phone. The recording states that Hay did not want to go to jail for being an accessory and that the victim should marry Clark so they would not get arrested.

The victim told officers that she had been sleeping with Clark since the summer.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim was later found to be pregnant.
