Car strikes support beam for overpass in Audrain County

Emergency crews responded to the U.S. Highway 54 bypass on Wednesday afternoon for a crash.

Mexico police said that Jay Thomas drove his 1993 Dodge off the roadway and struck a support for the Audrain County Road 820 overpass.

Thomas was transported to University Hospital, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said there was no apparent structural damage to the overpass and traffic was unaffected.
