Police respond to extrication accident with power lines down in central Columbia

UPDATE 3:09 pm: Police said three vehicles were involved in the crash.

All vehicles sustained damage and one person was taken to the hospital, police said.

Officers said they would be checking the GPS on a plumbing van involved in the crash to learn more details about what caused the accident.

One stop sign and a fence were damaged in the crash.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police responded to West Boulevard and Ash Street for reports of an extrication accident involving downed power lines on Wednesday afternoon.

Police, firefighters, medics and Water and Light crews are all on scene of the crash.

Police ask for drivers to avoid the area.
