Overcast skies to return through the day, with drizzle possible tonight

MONDAY: Overcast skies are slowly beginning to clear out across Mid-Missouri, giving way to some brief sunshine. Enjoy it because the overcast skies build back into the area as we head into the evening hours. With some sunshine expected, highs should climb into the lower 50s by the afternoon hours. Winds through the day will be out of the south up to 11 mph.

TONIGHT: Overcast skies return to Mid-Missouri through the night, ahead of the next upper level disturbance. With the overcast skies expected, temperatures will remain steady through the night. Lows are expected to fall into the low to mid 40s, as winds remain out of the southeast up to 13 mph. It’s possible that we could see some drizzle as we head through the night, but any precipitation that we see will likely hold off until Tuesday.

EXTENDED: Drizzle will be possible through the afternoon and evening hours Tuesday, as overcast skies and low level moisture remain in the area. A cold front is set to slowly track through the region Tuesday night into Wednesday, where we will see the drizzle become light rain and maybe some embedded thunder. By Thursday we clear out, with a good chance that all of Mid-Missouri remains on the dry side. Another cold front is set to track through Mid-Missouri Thursday into Friday, with the potential for some strong storms. It’s too early to break down the threats, as it all hinges on just how warm we can get by the end of the week. Despite the cold fronts tracking through Mid-Missouri, we won’t see much in the way of rain. Most locations will pick up less than .50″ of rain, with most of it falling Tuesday and Friday. Once the fronts clear out of Mid-Missouri, the weekend is shaping up to be another cool one, as highs only top out in the mid to upper 40s.
