Jefferson City district leaders approve top names for new high school

The Jefferson City public school board has approved the top three names for a new high school after hearing from its naming committee on Monday.

The public can vote between Capital City High School, Stoneridge High School and Mission High School now through Dec. 5 by clicking here.

Stoneridge was selected as a contender because it’s a nearby street and represents the historic ridge the school will be built on. Mission was also selected for its location.

Earlier this year, voters approved construction for the second high school and it is expected to be built near SSM St. Mary’s Hospital at Highway 179 and Mission Drive.

The winning name will be revealed at the school’s ground-breaking ceremony in early 2018.
