Former state trooper expands lawsuit against MSHP

A former Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper is widening his civil complaint against the agency almost two years after he said he was forced to resign.

Randy Henry was a sergeant in the patrol at the time of the 2014 drowning death of Brandon Ellingson.

After speaking out against the patrol’s handling of the incident, Henry was demoted to corporal and then forced to move from the Lake of the Ozarks to the Truman Lake area after nearly 30 years of service.

Henry’s lawsuit claims he was the victim of retaliation and denied his civil rights as a result of his testimony.

New court documents obtained by ABC 17 News show eight additional defendants including current MSHP Superintendent Col. Sandra Karsten.

The defendants include former superintendent J. Bret Johnson, commander of the Professional Standards Division Corey Schoeneberg, Corporal Stacey Mosher, former superintendent Ron Replogle, Criminal Investigation Bureau commander Luke Vislay, Major Sarah Eberhard, Troop F commander Gregory Kindle, Cololnel Sandra Karsten, Field Operations Bureau assistant director Major Gregory Smith, Professional Standards Division commander Malik Henderson and chief of staff Major Kemp Shoun.

In September, the arresting trooper Anthony Piercy pleaded guilty to careless operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor offense.
