Two suspects identified in multi-county chase on I-70

UPDATE 10/19 3:30 pm: Jose De Los Dios has been charged with felony resisting arrest.

Lesli Ramirez has been charged with a misdemeanor.

UPDATE: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has identified two people taken into custody after a multi-county chase Wednesday night.

Jose De Los Dios, 37, and Lesli Ramirez, 27, are currently being held in the Boone County Jail.

Just before 10 p.m., a Boone County deputy spotted a potential wanted person driving westbound on I-70 near Range Line in Columbia. The driver would not pull over and continued driving on the interstate into Cooper County, according to the sheriff’s department.

The suspect’s vehicle became disabled and two people got out and ran. After a short foot chase with the help of the highway patrol, authorities took both De Los Dios and Ramirez into custody.

Deputies said De Los Dios had a significant amount of meth and marijuana. Ramirez illegally had a large amount of prescription pills, according to the sheriff’s department.

The two are facing multiple possible charges.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people are in custody for a chase that started in Boone County and ended in Cooper County Wednesday night.

Sgt. Scott White with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said around 10 p.m. the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said they were involved in a pursuit on I-70. A trooper joined the chase.

The pursuit traveled into Cooper County, where Boonville police used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle.

According to White, a man left the vehicle and fled on foot before being taken into custody.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies said a woman who remained at the scene was also taken in custody. Neither were injured after their car ran off I-70 at the 99 mile marker, just west of Boonville.

Deputies on the scene told ABC 17 News the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Boonville Police, Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol all took part in the chase.
