Water main breaks on Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City

A break in the water main Wednesday evening resulted in multiple lane closures at the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and Dix Road in Jefferson City. The lanes were closed when the main broke around 9:30 Wednesday evening, and reopened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) the cause of the damage is not yet clear. It’s possible that the line will receive additional repairs or be replaced. A decision on that will be made in the next few weeks, according to Missouri American Water.

Missouri American Water and MoDOT confirm that the water company is responsible for the cost of all repairs to water mains, which is then reflected in their customers’ water bill.
