Cole County contractor accused of ripping off customers not paying restitution

Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley has filed a motion to revoke the probation of Ken Jinson after he said Jinson has not been paying restitution.

Jinson pleaded no contest in April to theft and deceptive business practices. He was given five years probation and ordered to pay $26,951.02 in restitution by April 2021.

According to Hawley, in the six months since the plea, Jinson has paid nothing.

Hawley’s motion would revoke Jinson’s probation and schedule a restitution payment review hearing.

One of Jinson’s victims claims he contracted Jinson to build a workshop and remodel his basement in 2015. The victim paid Jinson $17,000 upfront. The work never got done and the victim went to the Attorney General who took Jinson to court.

The last attorney on file for Jinson told ABC 17 News he no longer represents Jinson and wasn’t sure if Jinson had secured another private attorney or would use a public defender.
