Summer vs. Fall weather this week
MONDAY: This morning will be mild with some patchy, light fog developing. With the mild start to the day, summer conditions will quickly return to Mid-Missouri. Mostly sunny skies are expected through the day as temperatures quickly warm into the lower 80s. We’ll see a slight increase in humidity, as winds out of the southeast up to 9 mph will pump in more moisture. Isolated storms are possible south of I-70 through the early evening. This moisture will lead to an increase in some evening storms as a frontal boundary begins to slowly work into Mid-Missouri Monday night into Tuesday.
TONIGHT: By tonight, a low moving from Colorado will bring us another round of showers as a cold front pushes through. The bulk of storms look to get going after midnight. Winds will shift out of the northeast up to 8 mph as lows drop back into the upper 50s. No severe storms are expected tonight.
EXTENDED: Scattered storms will carry through the day on Tuesday as the front exits the area. These storms have a marginal risk for severe weather as they push to the SE, the greatest risks being damaging wind gusts and hail. The highest rainfall amounts look to be along and north of I-70. Following the cold front, we’ll see a brief shot of fall air as highs climb into the upper 60s both Tuesday and Wednesday. By Wednesday night, we’ll see a return of southerly winds and temperatures will rapidly warm into the 70s and 80s throughout the rest of the week. The summer pattern looks to once again be challenged as we head into next weekend. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
