Columbia man indicted by grand jury for rape in 2002 case

On Friday, Jackie Jennings was indicted by the grand jury on charges of forcible rape and burglary in a 2002 case.

According to the indictment, Jennings knowingly had sexual intercourse with a victim by the use of forcible compulsion.

The indictment also states that Jennings unlawfully entered a building for the purpose of raping the victim.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim was leaving a downtown bar when she was approached by an unknown man who offered to give her a ride.

Police said the victim declined and got in her car and drove back to her residence.

Officers said the victim began to feel ill and thought it was odd because she did not drink a lot of alcohol earlier that night.

The victim told police she laid down and when she woke up, there was a man standing in her room, police said.

Police said the victim passed out and that is when Jennings allegedly raped her.

Police said the victim was unable to identify the suspect and the investigation produced no results.

Officers said they did find a light bulb outside of the front door that had been unscrewed and a fingerprint was located on it.

Police said in March of 2017, the Missouri State Highway Patrol compared the DNA profile from this case to an offender DNA profile belonging to Jennings.

Police said Jennings matched the description the victim gave of the suspect.

Officers said they contacted the victim, who said she would still like Jennings prosecuted.
