Columbia police arrest felon found to be in possession of gun, officials say

Columbia police arrested William Barrett early Tuesday morning in the 300 block of Brickton Road.

Police said they initially pulled over a vehicle Barrett was in or excessive window tint.

Officers said they were advised by the driver that there was a gun in the glove box of the vehicle.

Police said they searched the car and found the gun and marijuana.

Officers said some of the marijuana was found on Barrett.

Police said after further investigation, they found out that Barrett had been in possession of the gun.

Officers said Barrett is a convicted felon and not allowed to have a firearm.

Barrett was arrested and faces possible charges for a certain person possessing a concealed firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.
