Warm October night, with increasing rain chances starting Tuesday

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions will hold on through the night as winds remain out of the south up to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph. Temperatures will be mild and muggy as overnight lows drop into the upper 60s.

TUESDAY: It will continue to be a breezy day Tuesday, with winds out of the south up to 16 mph. Despite the southerly winds, it won’t be as hot Tuesday. Clouds building into the region will keep temperatures several degrees cooler. By the afternoon hours, showers and storms will begin to track into Mid-Missouri. This will lead to a multi-day rain event that will bring beneficial rain to Mid-Missouri. Highs Tuesday will top out in the lower 80s for the majority of the area, with some upper 70s possible where rain tracks in.

EXTENDED: Tuesday night into Wednesday, a better chance of showers and thunderstorms return as a cold front begins to track into Mid-Missouri. The frontal boundary will stall out through the day Wednesday, as the ridge that’s currently in place limits the southward movement of the front. This will not only bring beneficial rain to Mid-Missouri, but also an increased chance in seeing some flash flooding. This is due in large part to the lack of steering winds, with many showers and storms expected to sit over the same area. The rain chances hold on through the majority of the week as upper level disturbances make their way into mid-Mo. No severe weather is likely this week, but heavy rain with amounts in excess of 3 inches are possible by the end of the week. Heaviest amounts will be along and west of Hwy 63. Due to the rain and frontal boundary, we’ll see temperatures drop from the mid-80s into the low to mid 70s as we carry on through the week.
