Missouri leaders respond to Las Vegas shooting

Missouri leaders responded to the Las Vegas shooting on Monday, and many expressed their grief while others expressed their anger.

U.S. Rep Emanuel Cleaver II released the following statement,”This latest incomprehensible act of mass murder has once again shaken this country to its core. My thoughts go out to the families, friends, and, most importantly, the victims of this abominable attack. Today we all grieve with Las Vegas.”

Cleaver ended his statement with, “I want to convey sincere gratitude for all the Americans who stepped up in the face of this tragedy – from law enforcement, to the emergency responders, to the citizens volunteering their help and services.”

Lt Gov. Mike Parson said, ” Few words can express the sadness I feel for all those affected by the mass shooting in Las Vegas early this morning…Those affected were not criminals or bad people, but ordinary Americans gathering to enjoy a country music festival.”

Missouri state Rep. Stacey Newman said, “We knew it was coming…I am sick and tired of our Congress and my state Legislature doing nothing besides issuing condolences. Prayers, even the warmest of ones, do absolutely nothing to prevent the next mass shooting.”

As more leaders respond, ABC17 will continue to update this story.
