Jefferson City woman charged with stealing, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia

Jefferson City police arrested Shante Jones after she was accused of stealing.

According to the probable cause statement, Jones was stealing by appropriating the property of another without the owner’s permission.

Police said a witness identified Jones as one of the two suspects in the theft investigation. The witness claimed she assisted in a theft of approximately $44 worth of goods, police said.

They said Jones was also charged with resisting arrest by resisting with physical force from being placed under arrest.

Police said Jones struggled during the initial handcuffing, tried to pull away again when being walked outside to an officer’s patrol vehicle, she tried to pull away again while being searched outside and refused to sit on the stool at the Cole County Jail.

Jones was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by being in possession of an instrument that is used to inject, ingest and inhaling narcotics.

Jones was charged with possession of marijuana by carrying marijuana.

Police said during the search of Jones’ purse, officers located 1.97 grams of marijuana, one partial marijuana cigarette and a silver grinder.

Police said Jones also gave them three false identities to conceal her active warrant for her arrest.
