Jefferson city man arrested, accused of leading police on a chase

Jefferson City police arrested Izaaya Sands, 19, and Dana Day, 27, after Sands failed to yield to police on Tuesday.

Police said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop to a vehicle that was known to have an occupant with an outstanding warrant.

Police said Sands, the driver, refused to stop for police and a chase began.

Police said during the chase, a gun was thrown from the car.

Police said Sands attempted to elude officers through an alley and then fled while Day stayed in the vehicle.

Police said they arrested Sands shortly after a foot chase began.

Sands faces possible charges of failure to appear warrant, resisting arrest and hindering prosecution.

Day was arrested and facing possible charges of outstanding bond revocation warrant out of Cole County.

Police said an investigation regarding the gun is still ongoing.
