Cole County man charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with revoked license

A Cole County man has been charged with driving with a revoked license and possession of a controlled substance after deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Highway 50.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies noticed a vehicle driving fast. When deputies used their radar unit they clocked the vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Deputies said they pulled over Alan-Michael Thornsberry, who had a revoked license and placed him under arrest.

Deputies said when they searched Thornsberry, they found a small plastic bag in his pants.

Thornsberry admitted to deputies that methamphetamine was inside the bag.

Deputies tested the substance and it came back positive for methamphetamine.
