Boone County Fire Protection District sends update on members in Puerto Rico

On Wednesday, the Boone County Fire Protection District posted on its Facebook page an update about its MO-TF1 members in Puerto Rico.

According to the post, the MO-TF1 member is the Operations Section Chief for the FEMA incident support team. He stated that everything on the island is destroyed, including infrastructure.

The MO-TF1 member said teams are performing wide area searches, water evacuations from isolated or cut off portions of the island and welfare checks.

The MO-TF1 member said the FEMA US&R teams are going above and beyond, helping the local citizens by troubleshooting generator issues, clearing roads, providing medical care and providing military food rations known as MRE’s and water from their own supplies.

The other team member on the island is acting as a division/group supervisor. His team is responsible for completing targeted searches to check the welfare of citizens in remote areas that may have had little or no support.

The Boone County Fire Protection District finishes the update by saying, “Spirits are good and everyone is safe.”
