UPDATE: No one injured after car crashes into building near College Avenue, Walnut Street

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.: No one was injured after an SUV crashed into an apartment building in central Columbia around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Columbia police said.

The intersection of College Avenue and Walnut Street was reopened once firefighters left the scene.

An officer at the scene told ABC 17 News crews that the driver was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The SUV looked to have sustained minimal damage, and the apartment building only sustained a few scratches from where the vehicle ended up.

The officer said the driver went through an opening through a construction zone on College Avenue at a slow rate of speed.

The officer said that at the time, the driver was not suspected to be under the influence.

It happened just after 8 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of College Avenue and Walnut Street.
