Springfield man charged with sodomy, rape of minor he met on Facebook

A man from Springfield, Missouri was charged with forceable sodomy, second degree statutory rape, second degree statutory sodomy and age misrepresentation with intent to solicit a minor after meeting a minor on Facebook and raping her.

On March 22 of 2016, the victim reported to authorities that she met a man on Facebook who went by the name of Dexter Peterson. Dexter Peterson was actually Ross Burd, who claimed that he was also a minor.

On March 21 of 2016, Burd went to the victim’s house and engaged in different kinds of sexual intercourse with her.

Authorities were able to contact the Missouri Information Analysis Center to identify the owner of the phone number the victim had to contact Burd. Burd was identified as the owner. Authorities then found out that Burd and Peterson shared an IP address and both Facebook profiled had similar content.

Authorities found Burd in Springfield, who admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim.
