Scattered strong storms possible south of Hwy 50 tonight

TONIGHT: If you aren’t a fan of fall, you don’t have to wait long as a strong cold front will be tracking through Mid-Missouri. As the front digs into Mid-Missouri, we’ll begin to see showers and storms buildin from the northeast. These storms could initially be on the strong side, with the main threat being the potential for damaging winds and quarter size hail. The greatest threat for hail will exist along the frontal boundary this evening. Storms look to fire as we head into the early evening hours and track to the south overnight. Right now, parts of Mid-Missouri are under a slight and marginal risk for severe weather. Up to .30″ of rain is possible. Overnight lows will drop into the low 60s.

TUESDAY: There will be noticeably cooler weather across Mid-Missouri as you head out the door Tuesday. Winds will be out of the N/NW up to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25. These winds will aid in bringing in cooler and drier air from Canada. We’ll see afternoon highs in the mid 70s, with overnight lows falling into the upper 40s and lower 50s.

EXTENDED: The first true taste of taste of fall will carry us into the upcoming weekend. By this weekend, we’ll see temperatures still below average, but approaching 80 degrees. Dry weather and sunshine will be in abundance over the next 7 days. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
