Columbia man arrested following domestic disturbance, shots fired incident

A Columbia man is facing multiple charges after a domestic disturbance that escalated into gunfire Saturday morning, police said.

Columbia police were called to a home in the 1700 block of Amelia Street around 6:21a.m. The caller said Maurice Robinson, 32, would not leave.

Police said Robinson allegedly fired a gun before officers arrived at the residence. A sergeant with the police department said it’s unclear if Robinson was trying to shoot at someone.

He was taken into custody once police arrived.

Robinson was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, domestic assault and property damage.

He’s currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
