Woman killed in Gasconade County crash

An Owensville woman was killed Friday night when she crashed her Ford Mustang on Route B in Gasconade County.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m.

The Highway Patrol said the driver, Cheryl Ashton, 60, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and drove off the left side of the road. Her car hit a road sign and a bridge railing before going airborne, crashing into a tree and catching on fire.

Ashton was pronounced dead at the scene. It was the first fatal crash of the Labor Day weekend.

On Saturday, a 19-year-old was killed in a Pemiscot County crash. Two other people were killed in a crash in Ripley County.
